Years have gone by, still the spark remains ...

Came across this the other day, and though I own the original pressing, I hadn't heard all the bonus tracks. Can't recommend this album highly enough. Luka Bloom is an Irish strummer whose voice resonates with emotion, producing the kind of music that can bring you to tears with a big, mushy lump in your throat. It's folky and heartfelt, but with a very contemporary edge. This is a good one for listening to with your special lady-friend with the lights down low. Leastways, it's always served me well in that regard.

Babybird To Perform Live Online October 2nd

Have you guys heard of By The Poolside? It's a bi-weekly live show wherein artists perform (where else?) poolside at Unison Music Studios in Los Angeles, California. Anyway, it's only just recently up and running, I believe, but the guest for October 2nd will be Babybird / Stephen Jones. Thought you folks might be interested.

Stephen will be promoting his new album, Ex-Maniac, which, by the way, sounds to be another lovely ironic pop gem, a worthy followup to 2006's Between My Ears There's Nothing But Music. (Man, this guy's so good it's almost painful.) The album was produced out in LA, largely on Johnny Depp's dime. (Yes, that Johnny Depp.) Johnny also directed the video for "Unloveable," which is a beautifully-shot homage to "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge." Check it out:

Creed Bratton of Grass Roots, The Office Fame To Release New Album

Creed Bratton, former lead guitarist of '60s group the Grass Roots, and current cast member of The Office (US version), will release a new album "Bounce Back" on February 8th, 2010. NBC has put up this video of the song "Rubber Tree" from the forthcoming album, which features fellow Office actor Ed Helms (Cornell-alum Andy Bernard) on banjo. The tune is a sweet slice of Dylanesque folkadelia, mellow with a feel-good vibe. Check it out - though you'll have to suffer through a commercial at the beginning.
